Osage County Spelling BEE

Hominy, OK – On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 1:00  P.M, Osage County Interlocal Cooperative held their annual spelling bee competition at their facility in Hominy. The spelling bee was broadcast via Zoom so friends and family could watch as their speller competed.

 

Students in grades 4th through 8th from the fourteen OCIC member districts were eligible to participate. Schools held classroom and all-school spelling bees in January and February. The winners of each school spelling bee traveled to OCIC for the competition, where contestants were asked to spell words from lists they had not previewed. 

 

Students from Avant, Bowring, Frontier, Hominy, McCord, Newkirk, Osage Hills, Pawhuska, Shidler, Woodland, and Wynona competed for the title of OCIC Spelling Bee Champion and Runner Up.

Thirty contestants participated in the event, which lasted 11 rounds. Congratulations to the 2022 OCIC Spelling Bee Champion Roman Hazen of Woodland and Runner Up, Kadie Bruce of Bowring. OCIC would like to thank all of our contestants, teachers, administrators, and parents for participating and we encourage all students to continue to strive for excellence.
